Covid 19

Covid-19 Procedure
Due to the Worldwide Covid-19 Pandemic Carters Home Care is implementing a Covid-19 policy and procedure effective June 1,2020.

These policies will reflect enhanced safety measures taken by Carters Home Care AND a
change in programming and the play structure for the day. Please know though that children WILL NOT be ostracized to implement social distancing. Other steps will be in place and are outlined in the policy to maintain the respect and nurturing they will need to foster their social needs.

Please CAREFULLY read the new procedures.

1a. Carters Home Care will no longer permit the following items from our families homes;

  • potty’s
  • home toys
    1b. The following items are permitted BUT will stay onsite and will be sanitized as needed;
  • plush toys for sleeping
  • cups or bottles
  • blankets for sleeping
  1. Enhanced cleaning of doors, door handles light switches and walls with special attention given to high traffic areas, For example front hall (cubby area, drop off pick up area).
  2. Parents will use hand sanitizer at the front door provided by Carters Home Care for drop off and pick up.
  3. Parents will be required to text Kelly FIVE MINUTES before DROP OFF AND PICK UP so Kelly can ensure each family has social distancing.
  4. Drop off hand washing will continue with the addition of end of day hand washing before your child leaves the centre.
  5. Bleach and water will be used as the main disinfectant.
  6. No sand play will be offered.
  7. Children will have individual bags of crayons, beeswax and clay for their art and sensory opportunities.
  8. Painting will continue as it has always been an individual activity.
  9. Sleeps rooms with have only one child.
  10. Outdoor times will remain the same. The backyard will be used as the ONLY outside play space until further notice. Carters Home Care will continue to monitor what Government Authorities say regarding Covid-19 and Parks, Play Equipment and Playgrounds.
  11. Children will be given individual bucket toys and play around their friends. Once the child is finished with the toy, the toy will be disinfected with bleach and water and will be left to air dry. Due to this, parents will see a visually different play space but I feel this is the best practice to ensure safe and positive social interaction.
  12. ANY signs of ill health including but not limited to coughing, runny nose and rashes will be taken VERY SERIOUSLY and your child will not be allowed to attend the centre until seen by a doctor or symptoms pass. I understand this will be problematic for some parents but I believe this will become the new norm for daycare and schools in regards to sick children.
    Five sick days for each child are being added to families already existing sick days for this year 2020.
    What will continue at Carters Home Care…
  13. The use of gloves for diaper changes.
  14. The use of gloves for food preparation.
  15. Lunch and snacks will still be served as a group but with highchairs spread out and children who sit at the table also spread out.
  16. Individual wash cloths after snack and lunch will still be used. Cloths are washed every Friday with hot water and bleach.
  17. Bedding will be washed every Friday in hot water and laundry detergent.
    Moving forward, this document may be updated.
    We understand that this is a challenging time for everyone. We know that everyone will do their part, including our family, to ensure that safe interaction and social distancing continues so that we can keep ourselves and our children safe.
    Thank you for your continued support.
